Brian G. Pertl, Ethnomusicologist, Lecturer, Performer

 
 
Brian Pertl is an Ethnomusicologist with Bachelor Degrees in English and Trombone Performance from Lawrence University, and a Masters Degree from Wesleyan University. He has taught various classes at the University of Washington including American Popular Music, African American Music, and Anglo American Music. He has done fieldwork in Australia studying the didjeridu, and studied Tibetan Buddhist sacred music in Tibet, Nepal, and India. He has lectured for the Inquiring Mind Series for Humanities Washington since 1992 and has presented over 300 lectures throughout the state of Washington. He is currently the State Music Scholar for the Smithsonian traveling museum exhibit on American Roots Music.
